Applied Childbirth Physiology + Pelvic Floor Intensive (15H CET)

Singapore - 6 & 7 May 2026

This continuing education training is for current prenatal and postnatal yoga teachers and fitness trainers, birth workers and doulas who would like to have a better understanding of:

  • biomechanical changes during labour and birth

  • movement principles and practices to support physiological labour and birth

  • biomechanics of breath fundamentals for childbirth preparation

  • anatomy and physiology of the pelvic floor

  • diagnostic assessments on pelvic mobility

  • diagnostic assessments on pelvic floor health

"Anatomy tells you what it is. Physiology tells you what it does."

We created this CET because we see the need for yoga teachers, movement professionals and birthworkers who work with prenatal and postnatal persons, to understand the physiological process of labour and birth and how the pelvic floor responds to those changes.

Most prenatal and postnatal trainings in movement fields like yoga and pilates might touch on joints, muscles and ligaments of the pelvis, from the viewpoint of needing to stabilise and strengthen (during pregnancy), as well as recover (post-birth).

What is often not included from such trainings, and what this course helps to address, are the biomechanical processes that need to occur during labour and birth, including how the cervix changes with the movement of the fetus during labour, and what movement principles and positions can encourage or inhibit those processes to occur.

This requires a different lens of looking at the pelvis - from its structure to the soft tissue components which include the uterus and the uterine ligaments. In this course, you will learn:

how the pelvis modifies structurally

what allows for those modifications

what are the movement principles that will help create space, suppleness and strength

relationship of the breath to pelvic floor mobility

We will also look at the biomechanics of breathing and how the the breath helps with labouring and pushing.

Her studies in anatomy and physiology from the lens of therapy and movement rehabilitation has sharpened her skills in teaching group classes, and she loves empowering her clients to see themselves the way she views them - intelligent, fascinating and strong.

Fuelled by her desire to empower birthing families from #wombtoworld, Dewi is also a certified Birth & Postpartum doula (DONA International), Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator and Evidence Based Birth® Instructor, Body Ready Method Pro , Girls Gone Strong Certified Prenatal and Postnatal Coach and VBAC certified doula (VBAC Link). Her doula work at wonder births greatly informs her teaching approach in pre-natal and post-natal yoga classes. She received additional trainings led by Dr Rachel Reed and several others in the field of birthwork and the nervous system.

Dewi is currently the Lead Trainer for TLY Academy's 100H Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training and 200H Yoga Teacher Training programme.

Brenda Lee

Brenda graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy. She spent six years at Changi General Hospital, where she served as a team lead in the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Department.

Her interest in Women’s Health Physiotherapy began after a chance encounter with a pregnant patient experiencing back pain and urinary incontinence. Beyond the musculoskeletal concerns, Brenda found herself navigating the delicate and often sensitive conversations surrounding pelvic health, a topic that can still be difficult to discuss openly in Singapore’s cultural context. This experience sparked her passion for supporting women through education, trust-building, and compassionate care.

Brenda believes that knowledge empowers her patients to better understand and manage their conditions. She prioritises patient comfort and strives to build a collaborative, two-way therapeutic relationship grounded in trust and respect.

She has completed multiple advanced courses in Women’s Health Physiotherapy, including dry needling certification, to further enhance her clinical skills and provide comprehensive care.

Outside of work, Brenda enjoys staying active through resistance training, Pilates, and yoga. She also cherishes spending time with her family and loves cooking with her toddler.
