Tell us about yourself!

I love to move! I started dancing at the age of 5, explored various dance forms. I used to attend many hours of aerobics dance without proper conditioning and injured my knees. That’s when I chanced upon Pilates and Yoga. Right now, I am working on achieving my handstand goal. Still working on it!

You’re so fit, and you’re a mum! What is your secret?

Discipline? Striving to be better? I draw my motivation from Daniel Chan! I was amazed at how committed he is to finding time in his busy schedule to practice. So, I try to make sure that I have a daily workout. My workout includes strength training, releases and stretches. Most importantly, I learn to listen to my body and choose my workout based on how my body feels that day. So it could actually be a fully day of releases and stretches, especially after an intense strength training workout the day before.

Why did you decide to become a Pilates Teacher, and now an educator with BodyTree Academy?

I was teaching Mathematics and Science in a Secondary school for 9 years. I decided to try teaching Pilates MatWork after I had my son. And I never looked back. Teaching Pilates is very fulfilling, to help my clients from being pain free to moving better than before. Mentoring an aspiring teacher is also rewarding. I learn a lot from guiding teachers to be how to teach to the best of their abilities. I taught the Pilates MatWork Program in Jakarta in 2017 and 2018. And also taught the Spine Corrector Course both in Jakarta and Singapore in 2017 and 2018.

I am sure if you are thinking of becoming a Pilates Teacher, then you must have benefited from practicing Pilates. Follow your heart!

Why should aspiring teachers choose the BTA program?

I went through the BTA program myself and it’s definitely very informative. The program taught me how to choose the right exercise for my clients and to modify for their needs. Clients are pretty well informed nowadays, and they appreciate teachers who can explain how they can benefit from the Pilates pieces chosen for them. And this program equipped me with that.
